A Period Poverty Awareness Fashion Show

My body positive alliance at Hopkins had already done one fashion show, as featured in my blog in the fall, but we wanted to do another fashion show for the spring. We didn't know what theme to go with and we were delighted to see that a Hopkins student, Caitlyn, was running a period drive for IRIS. We decided it would be a great idea to collaborate with eachother and make signs representing important facts about period poverty and use those signs as a starting point to speak on the red carpet about those issues. We dressed in mostly red, and it was a show that encouraged people at school to push their limits and get out of their comfort zones by walking the red carpet. I'm very proud of myself and of Harini, the co-leaders of the club, and of Caitlyn for the great success that came from the fashion show and the excitement that it created on campus about change.
